About Infinity Train

Infinity Train is an anthology series that began on Cartoon Network in 2019 and is now on HBOMax. Originially though, it was just a pilot on the Cartoon Network YouTube Channel. Each season (called "books") follows a different set of passengers on the mysterious Infinity Train, a train in an alternate universe where each car contains entire other worlds. The passengers are people from Earth who the train has picked up when they are at the lowest points in their lives. Each passenger has a glowing number or their hand that seemingly randomly goes up or down. What do the numbers mean? Why are they on the train? These questions and more will be answered if you stream Infinity Train on HBOMax!

The complex characters of Infinity Train stand in a burning train car

Infinity Train is one of the first pieces of animation to truly be for all ages. It's messaging never requires it to talk down to its audience, but it also doesn't indulge in the language and irreverent humor prevalent in adult animation. The show tackles complex themes such as divorce, identity, loss, and friendship in complex and satisfying ways as well having an overarching plot over all 4 books that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats.

Tragedy

On March 11, 2021, it was announced that Book 4 of Infinity Train would be the last season when it aired on April 15. The move was the result of corporate restructuring at HBO and Cartoon Network. However, fans were extremely disappointed since Infinity Train is one of the most popular shows on the streaming service and is considered by many to be one of the best shows currently on television. It turned out that the fourth book of Infinity Train was not made with the knowledge that it would be the last. As a result, many fans found it to be an underwhelming finale since it was meant to be a breather season between extremely intense Books 3 and 5.
